In the second week of mindfulness meditation, the focus is on increasing concentration by using the technique of short, forced inhales and exhales to exhaust the mind. This technique is called pranayama and should be done at a faster pace, except for those with heart conditions or blood pressure problems who should do it at a slower pace. The practice begins with stretches to open up the physical body and help the energy body flow freely, so the breath can connect the body and mind. By the end of the eight weeks, practitioners will have various techniques to help them live a calmer and more grounded existence. The session ends with a few sets of short inhales and exhales followed by focusing on the breath.
